Mediator: “So the purpose of this meeting is to save you money by having you both agree on alimony, child support, and the division of your assets so you won’t have to litigate it in court.”
Malcolm: “Okay. How about if we split our assets 50/50? In addition, I’ll provide child support and pay for their health insurance until the kids turn 21. And, I’ll pay five years of alimony. Does that sound fair to you?”
Mediator: “Martha, that sounds reasonable, what do you say?”
Martha: “I do not intent to work ever again. I’m not getting a night job at Bill’s Burgers. And I want alimony for the rest of my life. Besides, Malcolm deserves it!”
Malcolm: “My god woman, I just lost my job! Now that…that is completely unreasonable!”
